Fall English language classes for adults will begin with registration on September 12th , 9:45 AM, at the Good News Bible Church, 845 Pepperwood Lane, in Iowa City. If you missed registration on the 7th, don’t worry! You can join a class at any time! Classes will meet on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:45-11:30AM. Try to arrive at 9:30 if you need to register.
On April 4th, Monica from Veridian Credit Union is coming to teach our students and anyone else who is interested about preventing and recovering from identity theft and also about credit scores and bank loans.

Our English language classes will have Spring Break the week of March 14th-18th. There will be no English classes that week. The Iowa City Public Schools and The University of Iowa will have Spring Break at the same time. Class will start again on March 21st.
Our Spring English classes are now in session. New students can come to the basement of the Good News Bible Church, 845 Pepperwood Lane in Iowa City on Monday or Wednesday mornings at 9:45 to register. Classes meet on Monday and Wednesday mornings, from 9:45-11:30. The Broadway bus stops closest to our classes, in the Kmart parking lot.
During our English language classes’ winter break (December 10-January 31st), Friendship Community Project will offer free, informal English conversation practice groups with English-speaking community volunteers. To join us, just come to the Lucky’s Market ( 1668 Sycamore St, Iowa City) cafe area on Friday mornings at 10:00 AM. Starting the week of December 21st, we will be adding conversation groups on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM as well. Our Monday and Wednesday volunteers speak some Spanish. All adult English language learners are welcome!
On December 2nd, a representative of the Domestic Violence Intervention Program will be available during our English classes to explain the program and how to help someone who is experiencing relationship violence.
Thank you to Center for Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa for their November visit to our English classes to conduct an information session for our students on workers’ rights, the new Johnson County minimum wage, wage theft, and how the CWJ can help.
